Please note that according to the regulation of the Chamber of Notaries, it is necessary to produce a receipt when funds are deposited in the notary's reserve fund file (transaction type RFN - Receipts from notary's fund). In the current version of Para-Maître (menu "Accounting/Transactions/Transaction entries), the following choices can be made in the receipt type field: "without receipt" or "automatic" (or "manual"). When the next version of Para-Maître goes live, it will no longer be possible to select "without receipt" when using the RFN transaction type. You will therefore be obliged to produce a receipt as specified by the Chambre des notaires regulation.

We would also like to remind you that, according to the recommendations of the Chambre des notaires, it is preferable to have a file for reserve funds and a separate file for the entry of accrued interest in your Desjardins caisse account. For interest accrued in bank accounts at Desjardins, it is NOT necessary to produce a receipt.

In addition, in order to be able to quickly provide supporting evidence of electronic transfers, statements and cheque images, it is also recommended that you create an additional folder entitled e.g. "Trust 2021" where you will keep all the documents that need to be kept concerning the trust.

For transfers between files, if it is a new mandate, the Chambre des notaires recommends producing a receipt. Example: if the seller's balance of sale price is to be transferred to the client's purchase file, then this is a new mandate and it is necessary to click on the "Do you want a receipt" box.

If you have any further questions, please refer to the guidelines of the Notaries' Trust Accounting Regulation.
